Human Rights Monitoring Institute

Today, at the press conference HRMI has launched periodic overview of the human rights situation in Lithuania. The Overview is based on in-house research and monitoring, reports by international institutions and NGOs, expert opinions, and media reports.

On May 28, a group of Lithuanian NGOs published comments on the Draft National Agreement on Family Issues prepared by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs.

Amnesty International's Report 2009, was launched on Thursday, 28 May 2009 in London. It looked back on key trends and events in 2008 across more than 150 countries and to the impact of the economic crisis on human rights across the world.

On April 23-24 in regional town Druskininkai, HRMI has held first seminar “Closer Look at Multiple Discrimination” for journalists. Seminar series for regional and local media are part of the project implemented by the Office of Equal Opportunities Ombudsperson, Lithuanian Centre for Human Rights and the Human Rights Monitoring Institute within the EU funded PROGRESS programme.

Human Rights Monitoring Institute, in cooperation with the Office of Equal Opportunities Ombudsperson, has issued invitation to the first of the seminars “Closer View on Multiple Discrimination” intended for journalists working in regional media. The seminar will be conducted on April 23-24 in Druskininkai.
