Today, 29 July, at 11.05 am, during the live radio show FORUMAS on the Lithuanian Radio programme, Lithuanian experts of human rights will claim that private life is not sufficiently protected in Lithuania.

Kęstutis Čilinskas, the Chairman of the HRMI Board, is certain that during the investigation of alleged corruption in the Parliament, the law enforcement officers have gravely violated the human rights to a fair trial and to the respect for privacy.

Today’s meeting in the Parliament addressed the existing gaps in the protection of human rights, among others, focusing on the recent HRMI research into the excessive and unjustifiable use of the ID number in Lithuania.

Seimas Chairman Artūras Paulauskas is to meet the representatives of the HRMI and other institutions related to human rights at 11 am - 12:30 pm on Friday. The Overview of Human Rights in Lithuania and the latest HRMI research The Right to Respect for Private Life: ID Number Usage in Lithuania will be presented during the meeting.

That is the expected warning of the HRMI Board Chairman to be voiced in a scheduled TV broadcast, before the meeting with Artūras Paulauskas, the Chairman of Parliament.
