Petitioner and/or his representative will have an opportunity to present publicly their arguments inthe case of L against Lithuania. L asserts violations of a number of his rights: right to life, prohibition of torture, right to respect for private life, prohibition of discrimination and right to marriage.

District court ruled that Dalia Budreviciene had been fired by the “Krekenavos agrofirma” illegaly. On behalf of the Human Rights Monitoring Institute D. Budreviciene has been represented by Kestutis Cilinskas, HRMI Board chair.

Coalition of six organizations launched a monitoring report “Child’s Rights Monitoring in Residential Care and Education Institutions” that disclosed numerous violations of basic rights and freedoms of children living there as well as long standing systemic problems of institutional care.

Today, the Human Rights Monitoring Institute and the Center for Ethnic Studies hosted a round table discussion on “Discrimination in Lithuania: Evaluation by International Institutions”.

The Human Rights Monitoring Institute (HRMI) has released a public statement to deny any association with a Labor Party letter on the human rights and political situation in Lithuania. HRMI also refutes the Party’s plans to use HRMI’s annual Overview of the Human Rights Situation in Lithuania as the basis for a discussion on the human rights situation at the European Parliament.
