Programme of Human Rights Awareness Month 2007 includes discussions with representatives of civil society and media, politicians and state officials.

Human Rights Monitoring Institute in cooperation with the University of Lucerne School of Law and Mykolas Romeris University organized a workshop for public officials, law practitioners, journalists, NGO representatives, junior scholars and doctoral students on the 27th-28th November 2007.

Today HRMI denounced attempts to stifle the freedom of expression and the right to criticize the Government under the veil of Constitution. Public statement was disseminated to the media, members of Lithuanian and Euro-Parliament, and NGOs.

Chair of HRMI Board has won the elections in the Alytus electoral district and beat one of the leaders of Labor party Viktor Uspaskich who has recently returned from Moscow where he has been hiding from Lithuanian law enforcement institutions pressing the charges against him for financial irregularities.

On 11 September 2007, the Supreme Court of Lithuania has quashed two judgments by the lower courts in case of D.L. represented by HRMI. The decision found faulty the long-standing practice abusive of rights of individuals who are subjected to legal incapacitation procedure. The case has been sent for reconsideration.
