Upon invitation by the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights and the President of the Irish Human Rights Commission (IHRC), Henrikas Mickevicius, HRMI Executive Director, will act as a round table rapporteur.

Resentment towards the EU anti-discrimination truck by municipal authorities did not prevent the awareness-raising event on the 20th of August in Vilnius – business enterprise “Hyper Rimi” offered its parking lot for the action after refusal to allow the truck on municipal territory.

On August 1, 2008 participants of the first International Human Rights Studies Programme have received certificates of completion.

Instead of adopting the law on conditions and procedure for gender-reassignment, Lithuania decided to pay the compensation amounting to 40 000 Euros awarded to the applicant L. by European Court of Human Rights.

At 7:30 pm on Monday, 23rd of June 2008, the annual midsummer charity event to support human rights will take place at the Capitals Golf Club.
