Kestutis Cilinskas elected to Lithuanian Parliament

Chair of HRMI Board has won the elections in the Alytus electoral district and beat one of the leaders of Labor party Viktor Uspaskich who has recently returned from Moscow where he has been hiding from Lithuanian law enforcement institutions pressing the charges against him for financial irregularities. 
 
According to the information of the Chief Elections Commission, 55,33 percent of votes went to K.Cilinskas in the second tour of elections, and 42,73 percent – to V.Uspaskich.

Election of K. Cilinskas proves the fact that the issue of protection of human rights is topical for Lithuanian electorate - K. Cilinskas' campaign was built around this issue.

Chair of HRMI Board will work in the Parliament until the regular elections of Seimas in 2008. He believes that there are numerous problems related to the efficient protection of human rights in Lithuania, and Seimas is the place to solve some of them.
