HRMI initiates landmark court case to safeguard the rights of employees who expose corporate wrongdoing, misconduct

2006 04 24

In the complaint filed today against "Krekevavos agrofirma" at the district court, Kestutis Cilinskas, Chair of the Board, called the dismissal of Dalia Budreviciene an unlawful retaliation for her exposure of illegal company practices.

After Ms. Budreviciene went public with the information on the illegal payments – “the envelope” practice – and Financial Crime Investigation Service initiated investigation, "Krekenavos agrofirma” terminated "envelope" payments, and on 24 March 2006 she was fired. The complaint assumes that she was fired not for violations of employment rules and regulations but for the public expression of her disapproval of illegal payment practices.
