No, says the HRMI. H. Mickevičius, the HRMI Executive Director, argued the case on "At the Lunch Table" Programme on the News Radio.
H. Mickevičius clearly stated that the struggle against corruption and human rights protection were tightly interconnected, as pursuant to the requirements of the EHRC, the evidence collected during the pre-trial investigation shall be valid in court.
“Making public the private telephone conversations of the suspects not only violates their right to privacy but also discredits the evidence itself and reduces the possibility of punishing the corrupted officials,” claimed H. Mickevičius.
N. Steiblienė, the Head of the Parliamentary Anticorruption Commission, participated in the programme, too.
Programme was broadcasted on “News radio” at 12:10-1.00 pm, 06 September 2004. Moderator: Ginas Dabašinskas.
